This bodybuilder had a reputation as a man who collects large motorcycles and automobiles. Nowadays, this man has a new reputation and that is being the macho man who owns a tiny dog.
Bobby Humphreys, a carpenter and bodybuilder from Maryland, would make fun of his friends anytime he spotted them taking out little dogs on walks. These small dogs usually belonged to their girlfriends. He said that he never really imagined himself engaging in the same activity as his peers.
Everything is subject to change though, especially when it comes to love.
There came a point in Bobby’s life when his wife of seventeen years left him. Bobby, who was suffering from a shoulder injury at that time, got depressed and isolated all of a sudden.
A friend invited Bobby to dog-sit his Chihuahua one day. Since then, his reputation as a man who goes for the big things that life has to offer has changed into that of a man who adores tiny dogs. He had nothing to be ashamed of because there was nothing wrong with it!
A Chihuahua named Lady was the reason why Bobby changed his perception of what it means to be macho.
When Bobby had to dog-sit Lady, he felt that the dog should not spend so much time in her kennel. Lady’s kennel was her small part of the universe and she was often inside it. But Bobby let Lady out and he remembered how Lady climbed up into his lap, and since then, they have always been hanging out together.
Lady helped Bobby in overcoming his sadness. Before Lady, he was accustomed to spending the entire day in bed all by himself but with Lady around, Bobby started to keep going on with life. He would choose to spend an entire day just playing with Lady on his bed, and he later admitted that a large, muscular man like himself might fall in love with a small dog.
Afterward, he adopted four more Chihuahuas which were named Quinn, Harley, Kira, and Bela. When they were adopted, it was extremely evident that their previous owners gave them very poor attention and care.
Bobby stated that he could not stand by and watch the owners mistreat their little dogs. As a result, he began planning and eventually launched Big Guy’s Little World Sanctuary to save more Chihuahuas. As of this writing, he is responsible for 37 tiny dogs, and he does not regret doing that.
