Hector is a veterinary technician at Planned Pethood Plus. On one occasion, he accompanied Georgia, an animal rescuer, to a particular shelter that got affected by a flood. The shelter asked for help because their facility got overwhelmed by a large number of newly rescued animals.
Hector and Georgia went on a twenty-hour drive to Louisiana. Their goal was to bring enough animals to Denver and help the shelter in need. Hopefully, they can also help more animals get adopted after.
Dr. Carley is the head of Acadiana Animal Aid, and she welcomed the rescuer and vet tech to the shelter. According to her, they have rescued over 500 animals after the flood. Hector and Georgia took a look at the facility and assessed which animals they were going to take.
When Hector was led to a barn, he saw more dogs kept in there. What concerned him the most was the seven puppies that were kept in a kennel. He avoided touching them at first because they had ringworm skin infections. However, Georgia helped him out so they could bring all the puppies back to their vehicle.
Georgia’s vehicle was capable of housing up to forty animals. They had to hurry because the faster they can get back on the road, the better it would be for everyone. Dr. Carley was thankful, and she wished a safe trip for the rescuers after they loaded the vehicle with animals.
Fast forward a few days, and the seven puppies that Hector saw were in healthy condition. Georgia had been taking care of them. She has also been giving the puppies sulfur baths. It’s a way to treat skin infection.
When Hector visited Georgia and the puppies, he also volunteered to help her give the puppies their final sulfur bath. The smell was horrendous, but it was a necessary task to be done. More details on the process can be seen in the video below.
