Raisin was a sick orphan puppy that was dumped by her owner at a local vet in L.A. She was so fragile and her foster mom at that time, Katie Ruth Levans, wasn’t certain she’d even make it through the first night. At three weeks old, Raisin surely needed a mom, and it was fortunate that Daya was there.
Daya, a pregnant Pitbull, was picked up by animal control and then transferred to the same vet clinic where Raisin was taken. She was so sick when she was found and she lost all her babies due to miscarriage. She was so sad that she refused to interact with anyone.
It seemed the perfect timing to help an orphan puppy and a mourning mom. And so, Katie opened her home to them. She didn’t know how Daya would react once she met Raisin, but she remained optimistic. And to her surprise, the dogs just took to one another instantly.
Once they were both in bed, Daya’s maternal instinct immediately kicked in. She groomed Raisin by licking her teeny tiny face. And within a few seconds, the little puppy reciprocated the momma dog’s sweet gesture and licked her back.
Right at that moment, Katie knew everything would turn out just fine. All her worries disappeared when she saw how Daya accepted Raisin as her own. It was one precious moment to see how they loved one another.
Daya did a fantastic job of raising Raisin. She protected her, loved her, and taught her how to be a dog. She was her role model.
Within 10 days, Katie saw the difference in both Daya and Raisin. She witnessed how Raisin blossomed into a young dog because of Daya. And it was because of Raisin that Daya became a happy dog again.
Soon, Daya found her forever home. She was so happy to be part of a loving family. Meanwhile, Raisin didn’t have to search any further, because Katie admitted that she wanted to keep her for good.
