It was Wednesday, two years ago, when a certain Luiz suffered a stroke. He was immediately rushed to the Santa Casa Hospital in Cianorte, Brazil. Luiz perhaps looked like a homeless person, but he wasn’t all alone.
His six dog best friends were there for him in this difficult time and didn’t want to leave his side.
The hospital staff documented the extent of how much Luiz was loved by his dogs. They were able to capture the dogs panting during their arrival at the hospital. They kept on chasing Luiz’s ambulance accompanying him for miles. When they arrived at the building, they quickly made themselves comfortable outside the emergency room.
Volunteers from a non-government organization (NGO) concentrating on animal welfare, Amigos de Patas Cianorte, were notified about the scene to take charge of the distressed dogs. They fed the pups and photographed them as all of them continued to wait all night for the safe return of their owner.
Luiz and his six dogs have been known on the streets of Cianorte. It’s where Luiz lived for more than 20 years. Even if his family members attempted to find him a house, he still chose to reject their offers. Luiz preferred to live in the streets together with his close-knit dog family.
In a Facebook post, Amigos de Patas Cianorte wrote about Luiz living with his pals, treating them so well, and sharing everything with them. The NGO continued that the night when Luiz had a stroke, his six dog friends escorted him and that they chose to stay (crying) from the entrance. There, they kept on waiting for him outside.
In the morning, Luiz was getting fine and discharged, leaving him to his brother to take care of him according to Amigos de Patas Cianorte. But, Luiz and his dogs’ supposed-to-be reunion was postponed when he had to go out through another door.
Simone Ziliane, a volunteer of the said NGO, said on a Brazilian publication that the pups were so desperate. It was Thursday morning when Luiz was released and left with his brother through a different door. But the dogs didn’t know it and were still patiently waiting for him at the entrance of the hospital. One volunteer from the NGO needed to pick Luiz up at his brother’s home and take him back to where the pups were so they can leave there.
Luiz and his dogs are finally back with each other again. His dog friends have proven enough that with no doubt, they’re always there for Luiz no matter what.
