It’s not uncommon to find puppies abandoned by their owners. Many of these puppies don’t survive shortly after being abandoned because they’re too young to be separated from their mothers. The lucky ones are the puppies that are found by good Samaritans and rescued in time.
In Serbia, two puppies were found inside a cardboard box outside an animal shelter. Although there was a dirty towel on the bottom of the box to keep the puppies warm, the two puppies were still too young to be separated from their mother. They still needed their mom’s protection and nurse from her to survive.
Fortunately, rescuers from the Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac found them just in time. The two puppies were seemingly healthy and didn’t appear injured. However, they were dehydrated and starving.
The animal rescuers quickly gave the puppies food and water. They were named Meri and Mona by the animal rescuers and were immediately taken to a foster home. The animal rescuers searched the area where they found the puppies hoping to find their mother but, unfortunately, they didn’t find any other dogs in the area.
Meri and Mona were strong and they thrived in their foster home. After they were vaccinated and treated for parasites, they both grew fast. Meri and Mona needed to stay for at least two months in their foster home until they were finally ready to be listed for adoption.
The puppies adjusted well to living a life with humans. Meri and Mona were playful and loved meeting new people and other dogs. Soon after they were listed for adoption, both puppies didn’t have any difficulties finding a loving family willing to adopt them.
Mona was adopted by a man who owned other dogs that she became friends with, and Meri was adopted by a wonderful woman who spoiled her with so many dog toys and treats. Both puppies settled down quickly into their new home. Here’s a video featuring Meri and Mona getting a second chance, thanks to the hardworking and dedicated animal rescuers.
