Five-year-old Emma had been best friends with the American Bully named Charlie ever since she met him in a shelter in 2017. The pup was rescued from a backyard breeder then, along with her mom and four other sisters. Being born in a horrible situation, Charlie suffered from a severe case of mange that made her unattractive to potential adopters.
Fortunately, Emma and her family came to her aid and immediately adopted her. When the canine came home with them, she was timid and terrified of the tiniest of things. She would bark at the vacuum and laundry basket and was very uncomfortable whenever some plastic bags were around.
Eventually, with the help of Emma and her parents, Charlie became healthier and more positive. Her skin started to heal, and her confidence also started to grow. It didn’t take long for the American Bully to blossom into a playful and cheerful dog from there.
However, as it turned out, Charlie wasn’t the only one who changed after that adoption. You see, because of the pup’s terrible past, Emma was inspired to become a junior animal activist. She realized that there were more of Charlie’s kind that needed help.
So in a bid to make their lives better, she decided to open a treat stand and raise funds for the rescue dogs. Her mom helped her set up the stand while Charlie entertained their customers. After only two months, Emma was able to raise over $2,000!
All the treat stand proceeds were donated to several foundations and to the local shelter where the family got Charlie. The five-year-old girl also managed to rack up several donation boxes from various people, which she gave to the shelter, as well. Watch the adorable duo’s inspiring and heartwarming story here.
