There’s a high probability that you’ve probably heard of the marshmallow test where parents put a marshmallow in front of a toddler and ask them not to eat it. They leave the room to see if the toddler would do as they were told. The parents make their way to another room that allows them to monitor how their babies deal with their urge to eat the marshmallow.
Interestingly, this test has a counterpart for dogs. The owner leaves a slice of chicken or a slab of meat on a plate in front of them and tells them not to eat it. As the dog stares at the tasty treat in front of them, the owner leaves the room to see how the pup will behave once they’re not around.
Some dogs pass this test with flying colors. They figure out how to control their urges, and they do everything they can to keep their minds away from the food in front of them. As for other dogs, well, they take a bite the moment their fur parents leave the room.
The goldie and the husky
A man from Minas Gerais, Brazil, decided to test the patience of his Golden Retriever and his Siberian Husky. He placed a delicious, juicy piece of chicken on a plate in front of his pups. Both of them drooled at the sight of the treat, but their owner told them not to touch it.
The dogs had different reactions when their owner left the room. The Siberian Husky tried to chase after him while the Golden Retriever didn’t move a muscle. The fluff ball just sat there and stared at the mouth-watering piece of chicken that was sitting on the table.
Who passed the test?
The dogs had different ways of distracting themselves from the tasty treat sitting in front of them. If you’re itching to find out who passed the test, watch the video below:
