The ravaging coronavirus pandemic had dramatically taken a heavy toll on businesses and lives across the globe. But if there is one positive effect of the coronavirus, it is helping this adorable pit bull mix from California finally find a loving home.
Toretto, the pit bull mix in question, had been fending for himself in the streets of California before the Humane Society of Imperial County fortunately rescued him. Since then, he has spent about four years in the El Centro-based shelter, waiting for a home.
This proved to be quite challenging for the pup, as most potential adopters would often overlook him because of his breed, his age, and his inoperable cancer in the nose. Thankfully, when his shelter called for foster homes to take the animals in during the lockdown, Toretto was found by 52-year-old Michael Levitt.
The television producer had had his fair share of animal rescue programming and wanted to lend a hand to the shelters during this pandemic crisis. When he went to scroll through the photos of the pups in need of a temporary home, he came upon the heartwarming video of Toretto.
Right there and then, he knew he was the one he wanted to foster. After consulting with his partner, Michael immediately brought home Toretto. The moment the pup arrived, Michael’s partner and their two other pit bull mixes fell in love with him, too. That was when they decided they never want to return Toretto to the shelter again.
So within an hour of being home, the pooch went from a foster to a permanent member of their family, and he couldn’t be happier. He fit into the couple’s dog pack perfectly and has been nothing but sweet and affectionate to his new fur parents. Look at Toretto and his new fur dad here.
