This six-year-old kid named Jaylyn had to deal with heartbreak early in her life after her dog died due to a heart attack. It took the kid a while before she made sense of what happened. Her dog’s death sent so much realization on her part regarding how short life is.
With this realization, Jaylyn thought to herself to do something worthwhile while she is still young. But of course, what she will do should honor the memory of her dog, Dexter. As such, the young kid thought of setting up a lemonade stand for her local community.
When Jaylyn informed her parents about this idea, both of her parents supported her. After finalizing all the needed materials and details, Jaylyn’s parents shared the information online. But what struck Jaylyn’s parents the most was the kid’s willingness to donate to an animal shelter whatever she makes from the lemonade stand.
According to Rebecca, Jaylyn’s mom, the kid’s action makes her very proud. This is because as early as now, Jaylyn already knows how to help. Rebecca said not all kids think this way, so she is happy that they raised Jaylyn well.
During the opening day, it was Jaylyn’s supportive neighbors who became her first clients. Apart from the refreshing lemonade, the neighbors lauded the kid for a well-decorated stand.
During the opening day, the kid’s lemonade supply went sold out, forcing them to close early. Rebecca mentioned in an interview that they did not expect so much support would pour from their neighbors. But even then, the proud mom is thankful because there are people who support this cause.
In a short span of selling lemonade, Jaylyn racked up a total revenue of $1,000. The kid then told her parents she would donate the money to the local animal shelter to help the dogs housed there.
Proud of my sweet girl for hosting a Lemonade Stand in memory of her best bud Dexter-who recently crossed the rainbow bridge. We couldn’t be more grateful for the love&support from our family&friends. Excited to deliver the donations to the SeekonkAnimalShelter in Dexter’s honor. pic.twitter.com/UXSHeVOcy1
