There’s nothing like working hard for a goal and achieving it. It becomes even sweeter when you get rewarded for it with something you’ve always wanted.
Take this Russian Figure Skating Champion Alina Zagitova. She won in the Winter Olympics in 2018, and during her training in Japan, she fell in love with the Akita dog breed.
She asked her parents for an Akita if she won. Alina came home to Russia with the gold medal in her category, and little did she know that another gift was coming her way.
The figure skater had no idea that her Akita gift would be handed over by none other than Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe.
This happened when Abe visited Russia for an economic forum. Alina was invited over for a brief ceremony, and there, she got her three-month-old Akita puppy.
She couldn’t be happier, and she beamed like she won another gold medal for her craft. We won’t be surprised if this Akita pup learns a few figure skating tricks soon.
It’s nice to know that someone as important as the Prime Minister would note a simple athlete’s request. It’s a win-win because giving the Japanese bred pup as a gift could help preserve the Akitas while a Russian star gets her wish.
We do not doubt that the high-profile coverage and the dignitaries involved in this story will get the attention it deserves. If you’re reading this, then it’s time to get an Akita.
We’re thankful for kind hearts around the world who give dogs the love and care they need. They not only help preserve a breed, but they also influence others to become animal enthusiasts too.
Cheers to Alina and her Akita puppy; may their friendship stay strong and their fondness remain forever.
