A shelter for animals is where mixed emotions are felt, especially for the animals there. Some may feel aloof, scared, safe, or happy and warm- this is what a pup named Layla felt when Beaumont Animal Care took her.
Found running
Layla, a 7-week-old pup, ran through the streets in Texas when they found her. After they rescued her, they took Layla to a shelter, where, at first, she was frail and nervous. Tech Rachel Barron approached her kennel and started talking to Layla in a baby-talk voice to warm things up between them.
To the surprise of everybody, Layla seemed to like what Rachel did to her and flashed that smile that melted the hearts of the people in the shelter and across the internet. Rachel captured that sweet expression and shared it on social media.
Flooding and flooding in
Not for long, adoption inquiries came flooding in, and fortunately, the perfect family went to the shelter. A couple, Nick Toney and her husband, decided to adopt Layla, as they have done to 3 rescue dogs and two cats. They felt that Layla would be a brilliant addition to their now-growing family.
Toney shared with Dodo that Layla was initially shy but soon warmed up to him. He could tell that she was sweet and excited. The Toneys took Layla home, and they were exactly right about their assumptions about Layla.
Without skipping a beat, Layla started playing with the other dogs, and one of them was Lady.
New-found home
Layla has found a home and a family to play with and snuggle with. Who would know that what was once a dog in the streets would find a place in a sweet, peaceful, and fun home? If there is anything we can learn from this pup, it is to keep on smiling.
