Many dog owners often overfeed their dogs thinking that a fat dog is a healthy dog. Unfortunately, an overweight dog is a sign of neglect and dogs can have a lot of health problems related to obesity. Just like humans, dogs also need proper nutrition and exercise to remain healthy.
A man named Jimmy Shiba adopted an overweight dog named Squishy. Squishy suffered from a lot of health issues related to obesity. For a dog her size, her ideal weight should be around 25 to 30 pounds. When Jimmy adopted her, she weighed 59 pounds, which is twice the healthy body weight for her breed.
Squishy could barely walk. She was so heavy that she couldn’t even manage to walk more than 300 yards. She was always tired and she barely had any energy to play. Squishy truly wanted to play with the other dogs at the dog park and do zoomies but her weight was preventing her from doing things that dogs love.
Thankfully, Jimmy was determined to help Squishy get healthier. Jimmy’s background is a personal trainer. He’s experienced in helping overweight people lose weight and get healthy. With his knowledge, Jimmy helped Squishy lose weight.
The entire process was slow but Jimmy was determined to help Squishy. No matter how small the progress was, Jimmy celebrated every pound of body weight Squishy lost. Eventually, Squishy was able to walk longer distances without stopping or struggling. Jimmy even added stairs into Squishy’s routine to help her lose weight faster.
Squishy’s energy levels started increasing as her weight dropped. She also started playing and running with the other dogs at the dog park. Thanks to Jimmy’s help, Squishy lost half of her body weight and is finally doing things that dogs love doing.
After months of hard work, Squishy now weighs a healthy 30 pounds. Squishy’s weight loss journey also inspired Jimmy. He stated that he’s proud of how far Squishy has come. Now, she’s a lot more confident and energetic that she can’t wait to go on walks and go to the dog park. Here’s a video featuring Squishy’s amazing and inspiring transformation.
