Ruby, a Kelpie, got a new job after she was relieved from working as a herder. She was first hired as a herder at a farm in Lancefield, but the farmer soon recognized she was not doing her duties well. According to the neighbors, the owner of the purebred Kelpie spent a great deal of money to get the dog so it was most likely that he was looking for a dog that was his money’s worth.
The poor dog was not given a second chance to prove her worth, as she was abandoned at Edgar’s Mission, a local animal sanctuary in Victoria, Australia, rather than being assigned to do a different role on the farm.
The staff immediately noted upon Ruby’s arrival at the refuge that she was scared of human touch. She was too terrified to allow anyone to approach her, much less touch her. The dog needed some time before she allowed herself to trust the personnel. When she finally allowed them in, the staff observed Ruby’s sweetness, and they also noticed just how much she loved belly rubs.
The sanctuary rescues several farm animal species. It became Ruby’s new residence, and the employees hired her. They observed that she enjoyed caring for the farm animals that were donated to the sanctuary, so they appointed her as the new nurse.
She adored her new position. She enjoys her job so much that she arrives early every day. She provides the injured animals her affection and nurturing energies. Ruby is also the first one to welcome animals to the refuge. She lavishes them with hugs and kisses in an effort to make them feel at home.
The animals are better able to adapt to their new life in the sanctuary because of Ruby’s loving, healing energy. She has compassion for them and ensures that they feel at home.
