America’s Vet dog provides skilled service dogs to veterans in need. They aim to help and assist those who once offered heroic services to the country. By doing so, these brave men of the past will be able to live comfortably while being self-sufficient.
Anabelle Weiss, a 92-year-old woman, is one of the fortunate recipients of a trained service dog from America’s Vetdog. Joe, Anabelle’s service dog, has been with her after she successfully recovered from Thyroid cancer.
The courageous woman entered the military service 72 years ago when she was only 20 years old. She joined the Marines and she worked as a plane engine inspector and as a driver. Two years after, her life went back on track; she served as a nurse until her retirement.
With Anabelle’s current status and with lots of limitations to do her activities of daily living, Joe has proven how reliable he was as a companion. The dependable dog would open and close the door for her and would help her in walking up and down the stairs. Getting up and out of the chair became easier for her because Joe assists her.
The service dog also knows how to pick up the phone and bring it to his owner. Additionally, when she happens to drop something accidentally, Joe will pick it up for her. Imagine how great and convenient it is for the elderly woman to have him by her side.
Aside from being a service dog to help her out, Annabelle also claimed that Joe, under normal circumstances, acts like a normal dog as well. He is adorable and likes to be pet. The two have eventually developed an extraordinary bond over time.
Thanks to the devoted service dog, Anabelle, despite the old age, is still able to function and have fun during the remaining days of her life.
