It isn’t easy to make a rescue dog feel at ease from the get-go. Some take months or even years just to be able to pet their dog.
Manny’s story of how he managed to soften Pablo’s heart is one of the many stories of how difficult yet satisfying it is to rescue abused dogs.
Pablo was a pit bull who kept getting returned to the shelter because no one wanted him. He lived in different homes until Manny came into his life. Manny took the risk of adopting and taking care of him because he knew all Pablo needed was constant love and patience.
Initially, Pablo kept lunging towards Manny. It seemed as if he really wanted to bite Manny’s hand. Most people would have probably cut it off right there and then but not for Manny. Manny was determined not to give up on him so he took on this challenge.
Pablo always wore a muzzle whenever Manny walked him outside but he didn’t see it necessary for him to wear one at home. With enough patience, Pablo can be muzzle-free.
Manny acknowledged the progress they both made even if it were little. Even though Pablo growled whenever he tried to pet him, Manny knew Pablo didn’t want him to stop because he’d wag his tail. Soon, Manny could clothe Pablo in cute outfits.
Eventually, every time Manny left for work, Pablo’s eyes begged him not to leave. Pablo would also start running around the house in excitement once Manny came back.
Manny’s proudest moment soon came- it was time to take off Pablo’s muzzle. It wasn’t even possible to touch Pablo at first but now Manny gives him a lot of belly rubs. The past 6 months have been tested Manny’s patience but in the end, it was all worth the effort.
We all know how it feels to reap the rewards of something we’ve worked so hard for. Click on this video below to watch how Manny transformed the life of Pablo.
