Oreo was a stray dog with a puppy. She and her offspring were frequently seen on the strip of land separating a motorway and a suburban area. Residents of this area feared that the dogs would one day run onto the busy road and become injured. In the hopes that they would remain on their side of the street, a family began feeding them.
Although they wanted to provide a nice and safe home for the strays, it was not possible for them to adopt them. They decided to do the next best thing, which was to contact a canine rescue organization and pray that they would be adopted.
The Los Angeles family contacted Hope for Paws, a non-profit canine care organization. Their founder, Eldad, and a woman named Loreta drove to the region to undertake the rescue.
When they arrived at the area where the dogs were seen, they observed Oreo sitting by the curb near the friendly family’s residence. However, her son was on the opposite side of the street.
Eldad observed that there was a gap in the fence close to the freeway, and he feared that the puppy would enter it.
With a net in hand, he promptly exited his vehicle and ran toward the dog. The puppy attempted to flee upon seeing him, but it was too late. Eldad was already covered by the net.
The puppy began howling, which alerted Oreo. She then began to sprint toward her puppy. Once she saw that her pup had been captured, she raced into the bushes and hid there.
Eldad requested the human family’s assistance in order to save Oreo. Since the dog already trusted them, she would likely emerge from hiding if they called her. They were able to put a leash around Oreo’s neck when she responded to their calls and returned to the family.
Oreo and her kid, now known as Cookie Monster, were examined by a veterinarian and confirmed healthy. Both now live with a foster family, where they are thriving. They are loving their time as foster pets and, hopefully, will be adopted soon.
