Some people might get confused why someone would give a pit bull the name Ally Gator. But once they hear her distressing story, it all perfectly makes sense.
This is because Ally survived an alligator attack. But that isn’t just the only infuriating thing that happened to her.
Thanks to some kind citizens and the actions of a brave responder, her story has a happy ending.
Left to die
Ally’s story started one night in New Orleans. A heartless person beat her, and the pit bull was thrown off the interstate. The badly bruised dog landed more than 15 feet down to a swamp. The perpetrator knew that alligators were there and left the poor pooch for dead.
And she would have been. One of the wild reptiles attacked the injured dog and got a hold of her neck. Somehow, the pit bull wrangled herself free and found refuge in a small piece of land in the swamp.
One person walking near the elevated sidewalk heard the dog howling and saw Ally bleeding. The concerned citizen immediately called the emergency hotline and reported the situation. Firefighters were sent to the location right away.
Brave responder
One of the firefighters volunteered to go down the slippery slope to fetch the dog. His colleagues tied a rope around him and lowered him down.
Once he was there, the brave responder waded through the swamp and quickly collected the dog. With just one arm, he scooped the 70-pound canine and went back to the edge of the slope. The other firefighters then pulled them back up.
Ally was then immediately sent to the St. Charles Animal Shelter, where a vet treated her bruises and injuries. They cleaned and stitched up deep bite marks near her head. Thankfully, none of her injuries were life-threatening.
The authorities are now investigating the matter. They are currently looking for the person who abused the pit bull. Ally will stay in the shelter for the meantime until the investigation is done.
