While on vacation with friends, a couple lost their pet dog on a cliff on Eype, which is located in southwest Dorset, England. Shadow, the dog, slipped while chasing a sheep and fell from a cliff, according to his owners.
Wayne and Amber Whiting, along with their friends and the Coastguard, did everything they could to discover the lost animal, but they were unable to locate him.
After a few weeks of looking, the owners admitted that they had given all hope of locating Shadow. The Whitings assumed the animal had perished or been taken by other people. It’s a difficult thought but they’ve come to terms with it over time.
However, what they didn’t know was that Shadow was successfully able to get off where he fell despite injuring his back leg. Through time, he lost half his weight.
Shadow was finally discovered by another tourist while it was lurking near Eype beach at the foot of the hills. The traveler who discovered him notified the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the biggest welfare charity in the UK for animals, which was able to determine the owner’s identification, thanks to the microchip embedded in the dog.
When Amber got a call from the RSPCA, she teared up. She told Wayne the fantastic news about their lost Shar-Pei, and they couldn’t believe it. They rushed to get Shadow right away, but he was in such bad shape that they didn’t recognize him at first.
It turned out, Shadow survived by eating seaweeds, sticks, and stones he discovered around the area where he stayed, according to a vet who checked on the dog. Shadow may have also fallen and became trapped, but he ultimately made his way to the bottom of the cliff. It was a miracle he lived and he is now becoming stronger.
Shadow is working towards a complete recovery as he is trying hard to regain his lost weight.
